Our story
It started with one frustrated reading.
In 2022, our co-founder spent two months on a strict diet, hit the gym five days a week, and the scale didn't budge. Her doctor ran labs. They came back normal. Her CGM said her glucose was fine. Her ring said she was recovered.
None of them could answer the actual question: what is my body doing with the food I eat?
The honest answer existed — in her breath. Acetone, ethanol, and hydrogen had been studied in labs for decades. They just had never been wearable, affordable, or built around the person living the life.
So three engineers, one physician, and a designer spent the next 30 months building Respyr — a device that reads what the body is actually doing, every morning, in 60 seconds.

If your body is struggling, we'll tell you — gently, but specifically. We don't sugarcoat readings to keep you on the app. False confidence is the most expensive thing we could give you.
The second rule
Owned, not subscribed.
You bought the device. You bought the data. The app is free for life, your readings are exportable, and we'll never put your trends behind a paywall. Subscription health is a tax we refuse to charge.

Plain language, not jargon.
Every reading explains itself. Not "elevated endogenous ethanol" — "your body is working harder than usual today." The biomarker tables are there if you want them. They're never the headline.

The name
respyr
We chose the word because it points to the thing modern health tools took away — the ability to listen to your body before it tells you something is wrong. Respyr is what happens when the breath becomes the dashboard again.
